Mama Moses – The Underground Railroad is a compassionate, community-driven nonprofit organization based in North Carolina, committed to supporting homeless and at-risk families. Founded and led by Melanie Stewart, lovingly known as Mama Moses, the organization provides temporary emergency shelter in local hotels, meals, and essential resources to families in crisis. Beyond immediate aid, The Underground Railroad empowers individuals through its “Hand Up” program, which includes life skills development, career coaching, and financial planning. With a heart-centered mission, Mama Moses aims to break the cycle of poverty by offering not just help—but hope, healing, and a pathway to long-term stability.

SAFE of Harnett County is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide shelter and serve as an advocate for victims of sexual and domestic violence victims, survivors and their families. SAFE provides a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, hospital response, restraining order assistance, support groups, counseling, information and referral.
