National Small Business Week: Why It Matters Here at Home

by | May 5, 2026 | Chamber News

This week, we join communities across the country in recognizing National Small Business Week, a time to celebrate the heart of our local economy – our small businesses.

Here in our area, small businesses are more than storefronts and service providers. They are family-owned shops, local contractors, hometown restaurants, creative entrepreneurs, and dedicated nonprofits that show up every day for our community. They sponsor our youth sports teams, support our schools, hire local talent, and keep dollars circulating right here where we live.

When you support a small business, you’re not just making a purchase – you’re investing in a neighbor. You’re helping someone’s dream stay open another day, another month, another year. That support builds stronger neighborhoods, stronger families, and a stronger local economy.

We encourage everyone this week to take a moment to shop local, dine local, and recommend a small business you love. A simple shoutout or visit can make a real difference.

To our small business owners: thank you. Your hard work, resilience, and commitment are what make our communities thrive year-round, not just during a designated week.

Let’s continue to support, uplift, and champion the businesses that make our community feel like home.
