Rep. Howard Penny has worked much of his life in the Agriculture Industry from farming to sales and manufacturing while also helping businesses grow in a changing economy. Retail Management, Wholesale, and Manufacturing Management during his career. Currently the fourth generation operating our family farm. For thirty years serving on County Planning Boards, Tax Board of Equalization (representthe taxpayer), Board of Education, and County Commissioner as Vice Chairman and Chairman which gives and understanding of how the government is designed to serve both the citizens (taxpayers) and businesses.
Rep. Penny is currently serving his third term in the NC House of Representatives. He was recently selected to serve as the chairman of the Agriculture and Environment Committee by Speaker Destin Hall.
Rep. Penny has previously served as chairman of the Local Government Committee. He has also previously been selected to serve on other committees, such as Agriculture, Appropriations, Appropriations General Government, Education- Community Colleges, and Environment.
Rep. Penny will serve as Co-Chair for the Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government through 2025. He was also appointed by Speaker Hall to serve as Municipal Incorporations Subcommittee through 2027.
