National Day of Prayer 2025: A Call to Unity and Hope
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, communities across the United States will observe the National Day of Prayer, a tradition that unites individuals of all faiths to seek guidance, peace, and strength through prayer. In Angier, local gatherings will offer residents an opportunity to come together in faith and community.
A Tradition Rooted in History
The National Day of Prayer has its origins in the early days of the United States. In 1775, the Continental Congress called for a day of prayer to seek divine guidance. The observance was formalized in 1952 when President Harry S. Truman signed a bill into law, and in 1988, President Ronald Reagan designated the first Thursday in May as the official National Day of Prayer .
2025 Theme: “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled”
The theme for the 2025 National Day of Prayer, as designated by the National Day of Prayer Task Force, is “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled.” This theme emphasizes the power of prayer to bring joy, peace, and hope, drawing from Romans 15:13: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
This theme encourages individuals to pour out their hearts in prayer and be filled with divine hope and strength.
We hope you’ll join us at noon on Thursday, May 1st outside at the Angier Depot located at 19 West Depot Street, Angier.
