Don’t Pay a Late Fee

by | Feb 23, 2023 | Chamber News

If your vehicle registration expires this month, make sure to visit us by 5pm next Tuesday to ensure you don’t have to pay a late fee!!

If renewing your tag, here are some Important things to remember before your visit:

1. A motor vehicle must pass an annual safety inspection before your registration can be renewed. The inspection must be completed within 90 days of renewing. Some counties also require an emissions inspection. For a list of counties that require an emission inspection and vehicles that are exempt, click below:

2. Make sure you know who your insurance company is and the policy number in case we need this information. If you’ve had any insurance lapses, you may be required to pay a penalty before being able to renew. Find out more at the link below:

3. Make sure you don’t have any unpaid N.C. Quick Pass toll bills. Any blocks, or stops, to completing registration must be addressed prior to your tag renewal. ( If you don’t pay within 30 days of the date of your Bill by Mail statement, the vehicle’s registered owner can be charged extra fees and face civil penalties or DMV registration holds.)
